I hope you are having a wonderful summer so far!
As both an educator and a busy mom, I recognize and value the importance of communication between our classroom at Bursley and your homes. In an effort to do a better job communicating with each of you during the coming school year, I have created an account with the website remind101.com.
Remind101 provides teachers with an easy way to send text message "blasts" to parents and students while protecting the privacy of each individual. If you choose to be part of one or all of my Remind101 groups, you will receive text messages on your cell phone from me, but you will never see my personal cell phone number, nor will I be able to see yours. This one-way communication is meant to serve as a simple reminder system, so replying is not an option.
(But sending me a message via our classroom website or sending an email to [email protected] is, of course, always an option!) Using the Remind101 service does not cost anything, but you will be charged standard text messaging rates through your mobile phone provider.
To enroll in one (or all) of my Remind101 groups, you will send a text message from your phone to the following Remind101 phone number: (616) 209-4136
In the text message, you will type the code that corresponds to the group you would like to join. If you'd like to enroll in more than one group, a separate text message will have to be sent for each group. These codes are provided below...
The first option is to get a text after school each evening with a very brief reminder about that evening's homework. Parents and students in my homeroom are welcome to sign up for this group by texting @1314-s6-nh to the phone number above. Signing up for nightly homework reminders means you will receive a maximum of five texts per week during the 2013-2014 school year.
The second option is to get a text only when there is something important that I'd like to remind students in my homeroom about, including due dates for long-term projects or upcoming assessments. Parents and students in my homeroom are welcome to sign up for this group by texting @1314-s6-ir to the phone number above. Signing up for important reminders means you will receive a maximum of two texts per week during the 2013-2014 school year.
The final option (at least, at this time) is to join the text group for general sixth grade reminders. These would be reminders not-specific to my homeroom, so a great option for students in Mr. Huck's class and their families too. I will use this group to share reminders about sixth grade camp, upcoming field trips or fundraiser due dates, social studies (as I will see all sixth graders for this subject), and Bursley events. Parents and students are welcome to sign up for this group by texting @1314-s6h6 to the phone number above. Signing up for general sixth grade reminders means you will receive a maximum of two texts per week during the 2013-2014 school year.
If you have any questions or concerns about Remind101, please feel free to send me a message!
