- Complete the Word Study crossword puzzle for
Lesson 4. Our roots this week are duc, duct
(lead, take, bring) and flu, flux (to flow).
- If you have not already done so, Mrs. Steele needs to see that your Hands On Equations, Lesson 3 sheet is complete.
- Once Mrs. Steele has seen your Lesson 3 sheet, please use the button at the bottom of this post to check your Lesson 3 answers.
- If you got any questions wrong on your Lesson 3 sheet, please take time to re-work those problems and fix your answers now.
- Then, please watch the Hands On Equations, Lesson 4 video, included at the bottom of this post.
- After you have watched the entire video, you may ask Mrs. Steele for the Lesson 4 worksheet. Please complete all problems. This sheet must be finished by Math Lab time on Friday.
- If you finish early, Quizlet (Word Study) or XtraMath are always great options. You're also more than welcome to get a head start on my math homework video and response if you'd like. The video is unusually long today...SORRY!
Green Team "To Do List" for Math Lab/Vocab time today:
Hello Green Team Friends!
Please begin today by checking your Language Arts grade on Power School. Use this link to get to the correct site, and sign in with your 2021... user name and password.
Please look specifically at our grades on Word Study quizzes for Lessons 1, 2, and 3. I think that some of these are lower than what we (you, me, and your parents) would like to see. As a reminder, my introduction videos each week typically give most (if not all) quiz answers. Please consider how much time and focus you've been putting into Word Study studying and if a change should be made this week.
Then, please watch our Word Study video below.
Finally, after watching our Word Study video, please ask Mrs. Steele for this week's word list and highlight the root within each of our words.
If you have extra time, Quizlet or XtraMath are great choices. Also, Hands On Equations Lesson 3 is due tomorrow, so you could finish that up if needed.
Green Team Students,
After our "read around" activity this afternoon, you will need to take your Word Study Lesson 3 Quiz. Please click here to access the quiz.
Then you should complete the following steps in order.
If any of the above steps are not completed at the end of class, they are homework, due Monday morning.
Good Afternoon Green Team!
Here are your tasks for this afternoon:
Greetings Green Team! I am at Data Review this afternoon. I expect great behavior for Mrs. Peless and students working hard to accomplish our "To Do List" for this afternoon.
Here's a quick look at CHAMPS to outline acceptable behavior for this work session:
C: 0 - No noise, No talking -- Everyone is working independently and silently today.
H: Raise your hand.
A: Mrs. Steele's "To Do List" below.
M: You may move to grab supplies, but after that you should be in your assigned seats. No exercise balls today.
P: I will know you have participated if your Math Discovery Assessment is completed this afternoon and if you are able to show me your Hands On Equations, Lesson 2 sheet.
S: To be successful today, you will need a Chromebook, headphones, the HOE Lesson 2 sheet, and access to the Hands On Equations supplies in my "math bins".
To Do List"
Good Afternoon! This is your "To Do List":
If you have extra time, you may navigate to the Word Study Lesson 3 Quizlet site or you may do session(s) of XtraMath.
Afternoon "To Do List":
Hello Green Team!
You had two tasks for Math Lab/Vocab time yesterday afternoon, a word study "cut and sort" and the first lesson of Hands On Equations. I believe it goes without saying that yesterday did not go great. I trust that this afternoon is going to go better, and believe that you will show your best work ethic, direction following, and behavior.
This afternoon you must finish the Hands On Equations task from yesterday (scroll down).
If you didn't watch the video, please start there.
If you watched the video yesterday but haven't finished the Lesson 1 sheet, please start there.
If Hands On Equations Lesson 1 is finished with your best effort, then your assignment is to go back to Word Study/Vocab.
If you have your word study "cut and sort" at school still, please finish cutting and use those to practice sorting.
If the "cut and sort" is not at school, please go to Quizlet instead and practice using those resources.
(ACT Friends, If you didn't watch the word study intro video or do the highlighting on Monday, let's get that done this afternoon as well. Thanks!)
I'm looking forward to a wonderful Wednesday with you!
Your 50 minutes of Math Lab/Vocab time this afternoon will be broken into two "chunks". The substitute teacher will prompt you when it is time to switch from the Vocabulary activity to the Math Lab activity for today.
Vocabulary/Word Study first!
Your vocabulary task today is a "cut and sort". I have created a short video to talk you through directions for this activity, so that we're all clear on expectations (see below). Please watch this video with headphones on, and then get a paper from the horseshoe table and get to work.
Then, when you're told it is time to switch activities, it's time for Math Lab!
We will be spending the next few weeks reviewing what you learned about Hands On Equations in fifth grade.
Even if you believe that you are a Hands On Equations expert, you are expected to watch my "HOE" videos in their entirety. (No one is "too cool" for HOE.) Some of the things we do with "HOE" in sixth grade is different from fifth grade, and we need to all be on the same page...even when the problems seem easy.
Please watch the video below with headphones on.
Then, get a Hands On Equations Notes & Work Space sheet and a Hands On Equations, Lesson 1 worksheet from the horseshoe table and get to work.
Bags of Hands On Equations pieces are in our "math tubs".
Good Afternoon, Great Green Team!
This afternoon you have two main tasks for Word Study/ Vocabulary. Please be sure to follow the directions below.
If you finish early, you are welcome to read in your independent reading novel or navigate to our list of Quizlet word study/vocabulary resources and practice. This must be silent, independent work time.
